SKIN PRODUCTS FOR

SEASONAL TRANSITIONS

JULES C on AUGUST 30, 2019

Changing seasons can make maintaining a skincare routine tricky. Skin can be feeling dry one day, or heavy with product the next as the weather changes. Instead of recommending specific products for each scenario, I wanted to share three types of products that can be worked into an existing routine to help out with seasonal skincare transitions.

Mists

Mists are an efficient way to layer in extra hydration without weighing the skin down. As the weather warms up, mists can be used as a light layer in lieu of a heavier serum or essence. You can also keep a mist in the fridge to cool your skin on a hot summer day.  If drier winter air is affecting your skin, you can keep a mist with you to refresh and rehydrate your skin throughout the day. I keep a bottle of Saturday Skin’s Daily Dew mist on my desk at work, just in case my skin needs a quick spritz!

MISSHA Time Revolution Artemisia Treatment Essence Mist 120ml

NATURE REPUBLIC Soothing & Moisture Aloe Vera 92% Soothing Gel Mist 150ml

Real Barrier Essence Mist 100ml

TONYMOLY Bling Cat Facial Mist 150ml

Emulsion

Emulsioans are great to add as an extra hydrating layer underneath a heavier cream, or as a standalone final moisturizer if you’re looking for something light. I use Swanicoco’s AC Control Emulsion in the summer as a final daytime moisturizer due to how light it feels on the skin.

COSRX NATURAL BHA SKIN RETURNING EMULSION 100ml

the SAEM Urban Eco Harakeke Emulsion 140ml

secretKey Snail Repairing Emulsion 150ml

TONYMOLY BIO EX Cell Peptide Emulsion 130ml

Facial Oil

As an oily person, I was hesitant in using facial oils on my skin. However, oil is a great way to really amp up your final moisturizing step when the weather is dry. A few drops of oil mixed into another cream, or even an emulsion, will help seal in the moisture you’re trying to keep the winter air from leaching away. In the summer months, a few drops of oil works great as a final hydrating step after any toners or other hydrating steps instead of a regular moisturizer – I’ve been using Amorepacific’s Botanical Radiance Oil. It may not seem like it, but 3-4 drops of oil can be lighter on the skin than a cream or sleeping pack.

Aromatica Organic Rose Hip Oil 30ml

A'PIEU Nanco Tea Tree Oil 30ml

ONSAEMEEIN Moonlight Glow Face Oil Drop 40ml

TOSOWOONG Rosehip 100% Botanic Oil 11ml

Sunscreen

Earlier I stated that this article would be talking about three products, but you should be wearing sunscreen, no matter the season! Sunscreen should be the final step of your morning skincare routine if you’re leaving the house, winter or summer. Sunscreen is the number one thing you can do (aside from avoiding sun exposure altogether) to help prevent skin cancer and premature aging. There is a multitude of sunscreens on the market that are hydrating or mattifying – you can rotate sunscreens to fit your skin’s needs. The best sunscreen is one you will wear, so look for one that works for your skin. There are a ton of lightweight sunscreens out there – I personally like A’Pieu Aqua Sun Gel and Etude House Sunprise Mild Airy Finish – both SPF 50 and PA+++!

SOME BY MI True Cica Mineral 100 Calming Sun Cream SPF50+ PA++++ 50ml

PURITO Centella Green Level Unscented Sun SPF50+ PA++++ 60ml

MISSHA All-around Safe Block Aqua Sun Gel SPF50+ PA++++ 50ml

Isntree Sensitive Balancing Sun Protection Plus 60ml
